Whack-A-Martian lets you drive the Mars lander and protect humanity
from scary green monsters.

Quick Start:
|
Whack-A-Martian, from the SIGGRAPH '97 O2 experience, uses O2's video, sound, texture mapping and 3D features to bring you to the planet Mars. Live video texture maps from the O2 camera are used to map a live video feed onto the TV screens of some of the animated creatures in the game. Camera Setup Make sure the O2 camera is connected and working before running the demo. From the "Find" menu in the toolchest, select "Control Panels". Then double click on "videopanel" to bring up the Video Control panel. Select "Camera" as your default input source, and try running "Utilities->Live Video Input" to test it. Sound Setup All of the O2 Experience demos utilize SGI's software synthesizer for sound effects. This product is included with Irix 6.3, but is not installed by default. To install the synthesizer, use Software Manager or inst to install the "dmedia_eoe.sw.synth - MIDI Synthesizer" subsystem. Implementation Notes Whack-A-Martian is written using Open Inventor. The video texturing capabilities use the libdmuiv utility library, which can be found on the O2 Demo CD.
